At First Baptist Church, South Glens Falls, One Mission • Five Teams • One Culture is more than a ministry structure—it is a unified discipleship and mission framework designed to help the church grow together in Christ, strengthen one another, and advance the Gospel.

Each team serves a unique purpose, yet no team functions independently. Like the parts of one body working together under the headship of Christ, every team supports, strengthens, and depends upon the others. Together they create a pathway that helps people move from connection to growth, from growth to maturity, and from maturity to mission.

The Prayer Team serves as the spiritual foundation and heartbeat of the ministry. Through worship-based prayer, intercession, and seeking the face of God, the Prayer Team helps keep the entire church centered on God’s presence and dependent upon His leading. Prayer supports every ministry, strengthens every team, and reminds the church that lasting Kingdom work begins with seeking God first.

Flowing from prayer, the Evangelism Team serves as the outward expression of the mission, helping the church intentionally pursue people with the love and hope of Jesus Christ. Through outreach, hospitality, community engagement, and Gospel-centered relationships, this team helps keep the church focused beyond its walls and aligned with Christ’s call to seek and save the lost.

As people connect with Christ and the church family, the Care Team provides compassionate support and meaningful connection. This team helps ensure that people are seen, encouraged, prayed for, and cared for throughout every season of life. By strengthening relationships and fostering community, the Care Team reflects the compassion of Christ and helps people experience genuine belonging.

The Discipleship Team then helps guide people deeper in their faith journey by creating opportunities for spiritual growth, biblical learning, mentoring, and leadership development. The goal is not simply attendance, but transformation—helping believers become mature followers of Christ who are equipped to serve, lead, and disciple others.

Finally, the Worship Team helps gather and send God’s people through worship, praise, prayer, and the proclamation of God’s truth. Worship prepares hearts to encounter God, respond to His Word, and live lives surrendered to His mission. The Worship Team helps cultivate an atmosphere where Christ is exalted and the church is equipped to go into the world as His witnesses.

Together these teams function interdependently:

A culture where: God’s presence is sought, the Gospel is shared, people are cared for, disciples are developed, worship is lived, and Christ is glorified.

Because healthy churches are not built by isolated ministries—they are built by God’s people serving together under one mission, united in one culture, for the glory of Jesus Christ.

Prayer Team: Purpose: Seek His Face • Worship Through Prayer • Depend on His Presence • Strengthen the Mission

The Prayer Team serves as the spiritual heartbeat of One Mission • Five Teams, leading the church in worship-centered prayer and a deeper pursuit of God’s presence. This team exists to seek the face of God, cultivate intimacy with Him, and call the church to a life of dependence, reverence, and devotion.

The Prayer Team is committed to creating a culture where prayer is more than a ministry activity—it is an act of worship, surrender, and communion with God. Through personal prayer, corporate gatherings, intercession, and seasons of seeking the Lord together, the team helps prepare hearts, strengthen the church, and align the mission with God’s will.

Believing that every movement of God begins in His presence, the Prayer Team faithfully intercedes for the church, its leaders, ministries, community, and the advance of the Gospel.

Evangelism Team: Purpose: Pursue the Lost • Share the Hope • Live on Mission • Advance the Gospel

The Evangelism Team serves as the outward expression of One Mission • Five Teams, helping lead the church in living on mission by sharing the hope of Jesus Christ and inviting others into a life-changing relationship with Him.

This team exists to cultivate a culture of Gospel-centered outreach by encouraging the church to see people through the heart of Christ and to pursue the lost with compassion, grace, and intentionality. The Evangelism Team seeks to move beyond programs and events by fostering a lifestyle of witness where every believer understands their calling to live and share the Gospel.

Through outreach opportunities, community engagement, personal evangelism, hospitality, and Gospel conversations, the team helps the church remain mission-focused and outwardly engaged.

Believing that the mission of Christ is to seek and save the lost, the Evangelism Team faithfully works to connect people to Jesus, the church, and the hope found in the Gospel.

Discipleship Team: Purpose: Grow in Christ • Build Disciples • Equip Believers • Multiply the Mission

The Discipleship Team serves as the growth and development pathway of One Mission • Five Teams, helping people move from faith to spiritual maturity through intentional relationships, biblical teaching, and Christ-centered transformation.

This team exists to cultivate a culture of discipleship where every believer is encouraged to grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus Christ, become rooted in God’s Word, and live out their faith through obedience and service. The Discipleship Team is committed to helping people move beyond simply attending church to becoming fully devoted followers of Christ.

Through Bible studies, mentoring relationships, small groups, spiritual formation opportunities, leadership development, and intentional discipleship pathways, the team seeks to equip believers to grow in faith, develop spiritual maturity, and multiply disciples.

Believing that disciples make disciples, the Discipleship Team faithfully works to guide people along the journey of: Community → Conversion → Growth → Maturity → Mission so that every believer is equipped to live for Christ and help others follow Him.

Care Team: Purpose: Love People • Strengthen Community • Shepherd Hearts • Reflect Christ’s Compassion

The Care Team serves as the compassionate heart of One Mission • Five Teams, helping ensure that people are seen, known, supported, and cared for as they journey together in Christ.

This team exists to cultivate a culture of Christ-centered care by intentionally connecting with people, encouraging one another, and demonstrating the love of Jesus through presence, compassion, and service. The Care Team seeks to create an environment where people experience genuine community, spiritual encouragement, and the loving support of the church family.

Through visitation, encouragement, hospitality, prayer support, benevolence, follow-up, and relational care, the team helps strengthen connections within the body and extend Christ’s love during both joyful and difficult seasons of life.

Believing that people matter deeply to God, the Care Team faithfully works to shepherd hearts, strengthen relationships, and reflect the compassion of Christ so that no one walks alone.

Worship Team: Purpose: Exalt Christ • Seek His Presence • Lead in Worship • Send on Mission

The Worship Team serves as the spiritual gathering and sending expression of One Mission • Five Teams, leading the church into the presence of God through worship, praise, and wholehearted devotion to Jesus Christ.

This team exists to cultivate a culture of worship where people are invited to encounter God, respond to His truth, and offer their lives in reverence, surrender, and praise. The Worship Team believes that worship is more than music—it is a lifestyle of honoring God, seeking His presence, and living for His glory.

Through music, prayer, Scripture, creative expression, and corporate worship gatherings, the team seeks to create an atmosphere where hearts are prepared to hear God’s Word, experience His presence, and be transformed by His Spirit.

Believing that worship both gathers and sends God’s people, the Worship Team faithfully leads the church to exalt Christ, deepen intimacy with God, and respond to His call with lives of obedience and mission.
